Haiphong has an electricity and water supply network that meets the needs of the people and is capable of supplying for processing zones and industrial zones for purpose of economic development.

Electricity system

Total capacity of Haiphong thermo power plant in phase 1 and 2 is 2,200 MW. Each year, it grants access to the national grid of over 6 billion kWh, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of the city and the provinces of the Northeast.

Water supply system:


The city currently has 7 water treatment plants with total capacity of 214,000m3/day. The quality of treated water meets the standards of WHO and sufficient volume to meet all requirements. In each district, there are small-scale water treatment plants that provide enough for local needs.

The Vatcach water treatment plant extension project is one of the projects that are highly concentrated by the Water Supply Company to meet the demand of water use in the City Western gateway area of ​​An Duong district, Nomura, Trangdue, Benkien, Anduong industrial zones, factories along National Road No.5 and connect to the other water treatment plants such as An Duong, Cau Nguyet to ensure stable and safe supply for the city.

The Haiphong Water Supply Development, Phase 2 Project: Implementation period of 2011 – 2018; Investor: Haiphong Water Supply Company Limited; Total investment capital: 73.693 million USD, of which: ADB loan (re-borrowed from the State): 56.796 million USD (77%), local budget: 3.148 million USD (5%) and capital of the Water Supply Company: 13.450 million USD (18%).
