Promoting Economic Connections Between Hai Phong City and United Arab Emirates (UAE)

On March 13th afternoon, Chairman of Hai Phong City People’s Committee Nguyen Van Tung welcomed Dr. Bader Almatrooshi–UAE Ambassador in Vietnam, to explore the city’s socio-economic situation and investment opportunities.

At the meeting, Mr. Chairman of the city People’s Committee Nguyen Van Tung shared with Mr. Almatrooshi brief information about Vietnam’s third biggest city, whose advantages include developed traffic systems and seaports. Hai Phong’s annual GRDP indexes consistently put the city in the country’s leading provinces, varying from 10 to 13% per year. The city also amassed 30 billion USD of FDI capital from many businesses in Japan, South Korea, and other Asian countries, which benefited greatly from the city’s incentives regarding investment. In the seaport sector, the city has put into operation several deep-water wharves and is seeking to invest in import-export activities.

Thanking the warm welcome of the city People’s Committee Chairman, Mr. Almatrooshi recognized many diplomatic achievements between Vietnam and UAE in the past time, expressing the wish to develop the two countries’ relationship further. Mr. Ambassador saw many investment potentials in Hai Phong across fields like logistics, petrol, seaports, and tourism and would inform relevant business units in UAE about the city’s projects regarding the free trade zone and renewable energy.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, Chairman of Hai Phong City People’s Committee, suggested that the UAE Ambassador would connect and promote the city’s image to UAE businesses and localities so they could visit and explore the investment environment in the city in fields with mutual interests and advantages like logistics, energy, finance, banking, infrastructure, real estate, transportation, agriculture, and exportation./.
