Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Le Khac Nam said that after receiving instructions from the Standing Party Committee on integrating connections and completing the project, Hai Phong City People’s Committee has directed functional units to develop the master project on Hai Phong tourism development by 2025, with an orientation to 2030″. The master project integrated many contents such as goals, tasks, and solutions to preserve and promote heritage values of Cat Ba archipelago to 2030, vision 2045; integration of the content of “Research, building and promoting tourism products close to the history of the city’s Party Committee” and the instructions of the Central Standing Party Committee on the Master Project on tourism development in Hai Phong City by 2025, orientations by 2030″. In agreement with the project’s content, some comments suggested that the project should clarify the feasibility of the project’s targets and goals. Other opinions indicated that it was necessary to study and supplement more tours and tourist routes associated with the city’s historical and cultural traditions.

In his conclusion at the meeting, the Secretary of Hai Phong City’s Party Committee Le Tien Chau emphasized that tourism – trade is one of the three economic pillars of the city. Despite its great potential, Hai Phong tourism is developing slower than other localities and has not been exploited effectively. He stressed that this project is important to reinforce the city’s potential and strength in tourism. Cat Ba must develop sustainable green tourism associated with utilizing and conserving the world’s natural heritage, developing the locality’s tourism brand into a world-class beach and island resort. From that direction, he suggested that Hai Phong City must introduce regulations on green tourism criteria to establish rules for people, tourists, and businesses on Cat Ba, and develop regulations for management and exploitation of the heritage as a basis for building criteria for selecting investors, which must go hand in hand with sanctions to handle the offenders. The city needs to develop heritage management regulations between the city and Quang Ninh province to unify and effectively manage the natural heritage of the Ha Long Bay – Cat Ba, build comprehensive solutions linking green tourism with environmental protection, and propose mechanisms to encourage environmental protection. For Do Son, with the development orientation following a multi-functional tourism model (sports, festivals, culinary culture, shopping), the solution is to expand the space for tourism development. Do Son district needs to develop a plan to protect the marine environment, respond to climate change, encourage environmental protection measures, and propose effective solutions to take the local advantages./.
