Attracting Resources From Vietnamese Overseas To Develop National Economy

On December 14th afternoon in Hanoi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam coordinated with the People’s Committee of Hai Phong City to organize a press conference on “Promoting overseas Vietnamese resources to connect localities and businesses” in Hai Phong City. Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chairwoman of the Committee for Vietnamese Overseas, and Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People’s Committee, co-chaired the conference. The conference saw the attendance of representatives from different ministries, departments, branches, central agencies, and localities, as well as politicians, intellectuals, and entrepreneurs.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that currently, there are more than 6 million Vietnamese people in more than 130 countries and territories. Over the past, the overseas Vietnamese communities have always united, supported one another, and always looked towards the homeland. Vietnam’s Communist Party and State always consider them an inseparable part and a driving force for national development. The conference is also an opportunity to connect Vietnamese entrepreneurs, intellectuals, experts, and personalities in the areas with overseas Vietnamese agencies and localities and a forum to attract and promote contributions of the Vietnamese overseas to the country’s development. The conference takes place from December 26th to 28th.

 On behalf of the city’s leaders, Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong People’s Committee, expressed his eagerness when the Ministry of Foreign Affairs trusted and chose Hai Phong City to host the conference “Promoting overseas Vietnamese resources to connect localities and businesses.” The event is an opportunity to promote the potential, position, and role of the Vietnamese community abroad in general, and Hai Phong in particular in connecting information, promoting promotion, and expanding investment cooperation. Hai Phong people overseas account for 2% of the city’s population, many of whom have promoted investment, production, and business with 80 overseas enterprises and 60 domestic investment projects.
