SPEEDING UP NEW HOUSING CONSTRUCTION AND REPAIR FOR POOR HOUSEHOLDS

This morning, Vice Chairman of Haiphong People’s Committee Le Khac Nam presided over the conference to assess the implementation of Resolution 52 in 2019 of the city people’s council on mechanisms and policies to support the new construction and repair for poor households in the city area in period 2020-2025 and during the first 8 months this year.

Being the only locality in the country deploying the Resolution on mechanisms and policies to support new construction and repair for poor households in the city area as set plans in period 2020-2025, Haiphong is striving to have 100% poor households supported for construction and repair, ensuring the requirements for housing and criteria, contributing to realizing the goal for poverty reduction of the city. Particularly, in 2020, 686/816 households registering for housing repair have been approved, which is equivalent to the registered material volume of nearly 8,400,000 bricks and 3,520 tons of cement. According to the reports of the Department of Construction, by now, 337 households have been granted bricks and 117 others have been financed by the Social Policy Bank with the total of nearly VND 4 billion.

In his concluding remarks, Vice Chairman of Haiphong People’s Committee Le Khac Nam stressed that Resolution No.52 is a sound guideline, manifesting the humanity for social security and living conditions of the policy and poor households. In order to ensure the set plan, city chairman asked the Department of Construction to collaborate with sectors, branches and localities to further remove obstacles; inspect, supervise and urge units and localities to ensure the progress and quality under regulations; disseminate and mobilize poor families to use loaning capital and materials properly with the determination in which all the registering households have to finish the housing repair and repair by the end of 2020./.
