SCHEME ON CITY’S URBAN REFURNBISHMENT (PERIOD 2021-2025)

Mr. Le Van Thanh – Member of Party Central Committee, Secretary of Haiphong Party Committee, Chairman of Haiphong People’s Council presided over the working session with departments, sectors, localities and units on the city’s urban refurbishment project in period 2021-2025. Also attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Van Tung – Deputy Secretary of Haiphong Party Committee, Chairman of Haiphong People’s Committee and Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho – Deputy Chairman of Haiphong People’s Committee.

As estimated, by 2025, Haiphong needs around 2,500 green trees and even up to 3,500 green trees by 2035. The Department of Construction proposed the project to refurbish the urban in period 2021-2025, in which 7 parks will be piloted for construction on the scale of 1ha for a single park in the areas of 7 wards and townships of districts. Some 1,674 ha of land for green tree parks will be supplemented by 2025 with the goal every ward and township has a minimum of one park on the land of 0.5ha.

In the initial phase, the Department of Construction proposed to speed up the land improvement of old urban areas, remove ports, factories, warehouses, polluted workshops, premise of old apartment buildings and give priority to transport, green trees and public welfare works; protect the land fund for parks and green trees; prohibit the adjustment and use of land fund for parks and green trees for other goals; encourage the construction of high-buildings in the new urban areas in order to enrich the land for green trees and transport construction.

After hearing opinions of leaders of departments, sectors, localities and units, Secretary of Haiphong Party Committee Le Van Thanh noted that localities have to take concrete calculations on the suitable sites, focus on the efficiency and practicality to better the living quality of the city dwellers, forging ahead the goal to build Haiphong into the worth-living, civilized and modern city. He also directed the Department of Construction to soon set plans to construct other large-scaled parks in the city areas./.
