Enterprises must have scientific and technological products formed from scientific research results, intellectual property protection certificates, and copyrights on plant varieties, livestock, etc. For businesses established over five years, revenue from scientific and technological products must account for at least 30% of the business’s total revenue. A science and technology enterprise can enjoy many benefits, such as a 100% exemption from corporate income tax for the first four years and a 50% reduction in taxes in the next 09 years for income from the production and sales of products formed from scientific and technological results and many other incentives.
Statistics show that by December 2022, the city had more than 22,500 operating businesses. Nevertheless, by the end of 2023, Hai Phong City only had 38 science and technology enterprises and some businesses wishing to participate in this field, but there are still some difficulties and obstacles related to science and technology, technology, and innovation.
