Promoting Modernization Of Seaports

During the 14th session of the 16th Hai Phong Peoples Council for the 2021-2026 term, 11 contents were considered and approved, including the investment policy for a road construction project behind wharves No. 3 to No. 6 in the Lach Huyen port area. This policy has received high appreciation from the citys voters and residents, as well as from investors and businesses, for its timely and effective implementation.

The City People’s Committee’s report states that the investment project for the construction of a road behind wharves No.3 to No. 6 in the Lach Huyen port area is classified as a Group B project, with an expected total investment of over 716 billion VND and is scheduled from 2023 to 2027. The project scale includes the investment in constructing the traffic routes behind wharves No. 3 to No. 6, with a total length of more than 1,800m. Its main objective is to enhance the transportation system according to the city’s planning, ensuring a well-connected and efficiently utilized traffic infrastructure to accommodate the growing freight transport demand in the region. 

There are currently six existing wharves at Lach Huyen port, of which the two wharves, No. 1 and 2, invested in by Saigon New Port Company, have been put into operation. Wharves No.3 and No. 4, invested in by Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company, and wharves No.5 and No. 6, invested in by HATECO Group Joint Stock Company, are accelerating construction, striving to reach the target at the beginning of 2025.

The investment policy for the construction of a road behind wharves No. 3 to No.6 near Lach Huyen port has gained strong support from the City People’s Council, voters, and businesses. Once completed, this route will directly link the traffic systems of the Lach Huyen Wharf area with the Tan Vu – Lach Huyen route and the city’s overall traffic system. It is expected to drive the development of the Dinh Vu – Cat Hai Economic Zone, attracting and efficiently utilizing investment capital in the city./.
