POULTRY FARMING FACES DIFFICULTIES DUE TO COVID-19

Vietnam Poultry Association (VIPA) has lately sent a document to the PM and several relevant ministries and branches to propose solutions to remove hurdles for poutry industry.

In which, since 2020, especially since late April 2021, also the 4th outbreak of Covid-19, the Vietnam’s poultry industry has encountered numerous challenges, that makes the drastic decline of the whole sector. The total poutry herds across the country now have reduced over 36%, from 512 million individuals to 326 million only. Several enterprises and farms are forced to suspend production due to losses. Consumption of poultry produces over the past time has faced difficulties. Due to impacts of the pandemic, the feed prices sharply increase, so, up to this moment, 45-50% of large-scaled poultry farms have been halted and some 70-75% house farms and farming households have suspended the repopulation. A large number of poultry businesses and farms are going to the edge of bankrupt. Accoridng to the Vietnam Poultry Association (VIPA), in case this status is prolonged, in this fourth quarter of 2021, there will be a large deficiency of supply source for poultry produces in the country. As a result, frozen chicken will be risen to prevail over the domestic market./.
