Hai Phong port: It is expected to build container terminals No. 3 and 4 in January 2022

At the meeting with the Committee for Management of State Capital at Enterprises led by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Canh, Vice Chairman of the Committee on October 31, 2021 at Hai Phong Port, Mr. Pham Hong Minh, Chairman of the board of directors of Port of Hai Phong Joint Stock Company said that currently, Hai Phong Port is trying to complete investment procedures, and is expected to start building container terminals 3 and 4 at Lach Huyen in January 2022.

The delegation of the Committee for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises visited the Hai Phong Port facility.

Regarding the project of relocating Hoang Dieu Port according to the planning of the industry and the city, according to Mr. Pham Hong Minh, Hoang Dieu Port is a port with a long tradition of making bulk goods, equipment, project goods, military equipment; is the first port of Hai Phong Port, currently has about 1,500 employees. The relocation of Hoang Dieu Port will greatly affect the scope of Hai Phong Port and the income and life of employees. Therefore, when carrying out the relocation, certain supports are required to ensure the relocation goes smoothly, in accordance with the master plan and long-term development plan of Hai Phong Port and the life and income of the employees. Also at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Tuong Anh, General Director of Hai Phong Port suggested that after the construction project of container terminals No. 3 and No. 4, Hai Phong Port proposed the State Capital Management Committee to report to the Prime Minister of the Government for approval, assignment of berths from No. 7 to No. 12 to Hai Phong Port for construction, continuing to promote the capacity and experience of unit with tradition of port operation; ensuring the scale after relocating Hoang Dieu port, meeting the general development trend of the city and Hai Phong Port.

Mr. Pham Hong Minh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company introduced that the container terminal is expected to start construction in January 2022.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Canh, Vice Chairman of the Committee for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises, Hai Phong Port is proactive in formulating plan to relocate Hoang Dieu port, but needs to coordinate with Vietnam Maritime Corporation to receive comments, complete the detailed project, have a relocation plan, suitable and feasible route; minimize the impact on enterprises and employees. The replacement location should be reviewed in accordance with the plan and situation of production and business, ensuring the circulation of goods at seaports. For Hai Phong Port’s proposals, the State Capital Management Committee will report documents to competent authorities for settlement according to regulations./.
