Forum On Cooperative Economy 2024

On February 2nd, in Hanoi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the forum on cooperatives and the cooperative economy in 2024 with the theme Improving the States support policy according to Resolution No. 20 dated June 16, 2022, on the Motivation to promote economic development of cooperatives in the new period. At the Hai Phong venue, Mr. Le Anh Quan–Member of Hai Phong City’s Standing Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City Peoples Committee–and representatives from departments, branches, units, and cooperatives in the city attended the forum.

The forum on the cooperative economy is an annual event of the Vietnamese government where delegates can share, exchange, and propose important directions and policies to resolve difficulties, overcome challenges, and take advantage of opportunities to develop the collective economic sector and cooperatives. The collective economy is one of four economic pillars in Vietnam’s socialist-oriented market economy. As of 2023, the country was estimated to have more than 31,700 cooperatives, 158 cooperative unions, and 73,000 cooperative teams.

At the forum, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested the development of support policies for comprehensive innovation, including specific mechanisms for mobilizing and using support budget. It creates good opportunities and motivation for the collective economic sector and cooperatives to be self-reliant to catch up, progress together, and rise with other regions and economic sectors to develop rapidly and sustainably inclusively and comprehensively. In particular, it focuses on the benefits of members, cooperation, associations, and mutual assistance, aiming to enrich each member and the collective and together well abide by the social policies. /.
