FISHERY OUTPUT INCREASES 11%

In spite of the ongoing complicated development of Covid-19 pandemic, the catching sector still maintains fairly high growth thanks to the high-capacity fleet of Haiphong are lingering on the sea. Otherwise, in face of the stagnancy of domestic demand for fishery products, the ship owners have actively sold their products at sea via the form of non-quota exports.

As estimated, in the first 6 months of 2020, the catching productivity reached nearly 55,000 tons, up 11.7% year-on-year. The ensured consumption of seafood and stable prices of materials for exploitation have created impetus for the fishermen to cling to the sea. The main fishing ground for Haiphong’s fishing boats is on the Tonkin Gulf, the southern, northern and eastern parts of Bach Long Vy island with the main catching items of squid, anchovy and scad…and several fish on the seabed.
