DO SON BUFFALO FIGHTING FESTIVAL 2020 SUSPENDED TO ENSURE DISEASE PREVENTION

In face of the complicated developments of Covid-19 pandemic, the People’s Committee of Don Son district reported the municipal people’s committee the Decision on suspending the traditional Do Son buffalo fighting festival 2020 (including the festive and ritual parts) to ensure safety in the disease prevention and control.

In regards of the proposal of the Do Son people’s committee, Haiphong People’s Committee assigned the Department of Culture and Sports to preside and co-ordinate with relevant units to instruct the people’s committee of Do Son district to follow the current regulations. In 2019, Do Son buffalo fighting festival last from August 30 (which fell on the first of the eighth lunar month) till September 14 (the 16^th day of the eighth lunar month). Over the past 30 years, the festival has been maintained and constantly developed, becoming the national intangible cultural heritage, luring tens of thousands of locals, tourists in and outside the country./.
