Also attending were Mr. Do Manh Hien–Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Member of Hai Phong City’s Standing Party Committee, and Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee–as well as leaders of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and 200 delegates representing more than 50 thousand scientific and technological experts in the city. The conference was hosted online and also featured Haiphong intellectuals working abroad.
Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of Hai Phong City’s Standing Party Committee, Mr. Do Manh Hien emphasized that after 15 years of implementing Resolution No. 27 of the 10th Party Central Committee on the development of intellectual forces in the time of industrialization and modernization, Hai Phong City’s scientific and technological intellectuals have been provided training, support, investment, and favorable working environment to make great progress in terms of both quantity and quality, taking lead in research, innovation, application of science and technology and international integration. However, the development and contribution of the city’s intellectuals have not been commensurate with the existing potentials and requirements of the city’s industrialization, modernization, and international integration. The meeting was an opportunity for the Hai Phong City’s Party Committee, departments, branches, and units to listen to the opinions and aspirations of the city’s scientific and technological experts to receive suggestions, recommendations, and proposals by the city’s intellectuals to promote the role of the intellectual team as effectively as possible in the rapid and sustainable development of Hai Phong City, contributing to accelerating solutions of effectively implement the Resolution No. 45 of the Politburo on building and developing Hai Phong City to 2030, with a vision to 2045./.
