CARGOES THROUGHPUT INCREASE 6%

Statistics of the Vietnam General Customs Department showed that the total cargoes throughput in the first 8 months of 2020 reached more than 485 million tons, of which container cargoes fetched nearly 14 million TEUs, up 6% year-on-year.

Particularly in August 2020, the container cargoes reached more than 1.7 million TEUs, increasing 7% as compared to the same period of 2019. Several sea port areas have seen high growth of cargoes as Quang Tri (up more than 73%), Quang Ngai (up more than 43%). Sea port areas in Nam Dinh, Can Tho, Thanh Hoa, Thai Binh also recorded growth between 20-32% against the same period of the previous year. Some other withnessed robust growth of container cargoes, including My Tho (increasing 276%), Thanh Hoa (up 96%), Quy Nhon (up 22%), Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh city (15% equally)./.
