Seaport system

Haiphong has strategic location, is the gateway to the sea of the Northern area. The seaport system of the city was invested very early.

Established on July 19, 1888, Haiphong Port is the leading seaport in the North of Vietnam, with a large volume of cargo throughput og the whole country.

With 38 commercial ports, goods can be easily and conveniently transported from Haiphong to other ports in the world, to economic zones of Vietnam and to Southern provinces of China via the road system, railways or waterways in the shortest time and by the most convenient modes.

Existing port system:

Equipped with modern equipment: deep water wharf, storage yeards and warehouse that are safely operated, can meet all the modes of trade and international transport.

Haiphong international gateway port in Lach Huyen (1st stage) serves as a transshipment port for international container shipping in the North with capacity of over 100 million tons / year. This is the most modern port system in the North of Vietnam with modern equipment. Functional areas and infrastructure: General port, jetty, shipyard industrial park, specialized port area, office area, passage narrow, roadstead, security equipment.

The project is implemented in the form of PPP with 2 components. Component A: Dredging of channels, construction of breakwaters, sea dykes, cargo wharves, administration area and internal roads. Component B: Construction of two first container terminals.

+ Port planning to 2020: area of ​​184.5 ha; 5 container terminals with a total length of 1,875m; 3 berths with a total length of 750m. Loading capacity: receiving 50,000 DWT ships or 100,000 DWT reduced load ships. Cargo capacity throughput: 28.2 – 34.8 million tons per year.

+ Port planning to 2030: area of ​​508.3 ha; 16 container terminals with a total length of 6,000m; 7 berths with a total length of 1,750m. Loading capacity: receiving 100,000 DWT ships. Cargo capacity throughput: 120 million tons per year.
