On the afternoon of August 24, Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee received and worked with the delegation of the British Embassy in Vietnam, BP Group (United Kingdom) and SOVICO (Vietnam) Group about the intention to develop offshore wind and gas projects in Hai Phong. The delegation was led by Mr. Sam Wood, Head of Trade Agency, Consulate General of the United Kingdom in Ho Chi Minh City. There were representatives of leaders from relevant departments, branches and units.
Expressing his pleasure to welcome the delegation, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Hoang Minh Cuong quickly informed Hai Phong’s outstanding potentials and advantages in socio-economic development as well as energy development strategy orientations. Accordingly, Hai Phong prioritizes the development of clean, environmentally friendly energy, focusing on areas such as: Renewable energy (hydroelectricity, wind power, solar power) replaces fossil energy. Clean energy projects will contribute to ensuring an adequate energy supply for socio-economic development of the country and city.
Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong says that there are many domestic and foreign investors looking for investment cooperation opportunities in this field. The city supports and commits to creating favorable conditions for investors to develop offshore wind power and gas in Hai Phong.
Thanking for the respectful welcome of city leaders, representatives of BP Group and SOVICO Group for information on strategic orientation in renewable energy investment. Through the study, Hai Phong is one of the favorable localities to develop offshore wind power. Therefore, the group expresses its desire to cooperate with Hai Phong to develop offshore wind and gas power projects to provide electricity for the country in general and Hai Phong’s Industrial Zone in particular. Representatives of the corporations affirmed that they will invest in advanced, modern, reliable and affordable technology solutions to develop long-term renewable energy in Vietnam in general and Hai Phong in particular.
