Reinforcing Food Safety

Resolutely suspending the operation of facilities that do not ensure food safety is one of the contents that has been directed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to the provincial Peoples Committees in Directive 38 on strengthening food poisoning prevention.
Since the beginning of this year in many localities, there have been consecutive cases of food poisoning, causing many people to be affected and hospitalized for treatment. The risk of food poisoning has been recorded in daily life.

Provincial and municipal People’s Committees are required to reinforce inspection, examination, and unexpected inspection of the performance of the regulations on food safety conditions in small-scale food production and trading facilities, vendors, business establishments, food services providers, markets, restaurants, works canteens, and other subjects. It is necessary that authorities strictly handle violations of food safety and recall products that do not ensure food safety and risk food poisoning. In addition, the People’s Committees need to arrange enough funding and resources and improve the staff capacity to meet the requirements of state management of food safety in the area. Furthermore, food safety assurance requires regular assessments of food poisoning risks, and necessary measures should be taken to prevent food poisoning in the area. It is also important to organize training and update knowledge, resource allocation, and response drills in case of food poisoning in the area. /.
