On the morning of July 14, Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee received and worked with Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Ambassador of Vietnam to India on the situation, needs and possibility of cooperation between Hai Phong and localities, businesses of India. There were representatives of leaders from relevant departments, branches and units.
At the meeting, Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee quickly informed the potential and advantages of Hai Phong, the socio-economic development orientation of the city to Vietnamese Ambassador in India Nguyen Thanh Hai. In the city, there are currently 6 foreign direct investment projects of India, with a total investment capital of 12.9 million USD. The implementation of the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AIFTA) helps Hai Phong’s businesses make better use of tariff preferences in exporting goods. Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee wishes that in his assigned position, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai will continue to pay attention to, support, and act as a bridge to connect and promote Indian businesses to explore investment in the fields focused by the city: high technology, IT, high quality education, pharmaceuticals, tourism… At the same time, promote activities of connection, cooperation and trade promotion between businesses of the two parties, especially agricultural products, aquatic products, handicrafts, construction materials; products from iron, steel, cast iron, aluminum; machinery spare parts, electronic goods; textiles, leather and footwear; supporting the city in information, propaganda and promotion of Hai Phong city to the Indian people and business community…
Thanking the city leaders for the thoughtful reception, Vietnamese Ambassador in India Nguyen Thanh Hai emphasized: India is the second most populous country in the world, has a lot of room in developing investment cooperation with Vietnam in general and with localities and businesses of Hai Phong in particular. Through the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai realizes that there are potential areas that can strengthen cooperation between localities and businesses of India and Hai Phong in the fields of high technology, pharmaceuticals, tourism… The Ambassador affirmed that with the assigned task, he will research and look for opportunities to connect investment and trade promotion between localities and businesses of India and Hai Phong in the near future.
