National Sustainable workshop on Vietnam sea culture industry

On Thursday morning, the General Department of Fisheries has collaborated with Vietnam sea culture Association and Vietnam Sea and island General Department to hold a national sustainable workshop on Vietnam sea-culture. Representatives of coastal localities and seafood exploiting and processing companies across the country attended the event.

The target of Sea-culture is maintaining and stabilizing coastal breeding areas, ensuring bio-environment, developing sea-culture industry, establishing a sustainable gathering production region, creating high quality products as well as ensuring food hygiene and safety to supply to domestic and foreign markets.

Accordingly, to 2020, Vietnam strives for expanding sea-culture area to 270 thousand hectares with productivity of 710 thousand tons and export turnover of USD 500 to 700 million. To 2030, the sea-culture area will be 300 thousand hectares with productivity of 1,750 thousand  tons and export turnover of USD 4 to 6 billion.

With vision to 2045, Vietnam will become one of the leading sea-culture countries in ASEAN and Asia and rank in top 5 of the world in terms of ea-culture productivity and export values with total seafood production of 3 million tons per year and commercial values of over USD 10 billion./.
