HAIPHONG INL’T CONTAINER PORT RECEIVES EVER-BIGGEST VESSEL

On Monday afternoon, the 330 meter- long Kota Panjang ship of TEU 12,000 and DWT 132,000 anchored at quay No.02, Haiphong International Container Port HICT. This has been the biggest ship ever landed at Haiphong port. The event affirmed the port’s capacity in receiving high tonnage vessels and raised HICT’s position in the field of handling containers at Haiphong port.

Kota Panjang vessel is the mother ship jointly launched by 3 shipping agents, namely Wan Hai ( from Taiwan), Cosco ( China) and PIL ( Singapore). These shipping agents regularly operate on the service route directly connecting the North of Vietnam to  the Western part of the United States in the sea route of HICT – Nansha- Hongkong – Yantian – Long Beach – Oakland and Yantian. That the vessel anchored at HICT has shortened its transporting time to 19 days from 25 days as before. It also raised the handling and ocean transport capacity of ports in North Vietnam, reduced logistics fees remarkably, raised Vietnam’s and local enterprises’ competitiveness, boosted investment attraction, particularly FDI attraction.

The reception of the biggest-ever vessel has marked the development of container transport services by sea routes directly connecting Haiphong ports to those in the America and Europe without anchoring at foreign entrepot ports. now, HICT is operating 6 lines of services each week, 2 of which are transpacific ocean ones, 2 lines to India and other 2 to Asian nations./.
