EXPANDING COOPERATION IN SEA PORT

As part of the working session of Japanese Ambassador in Haiphong, this afternoon, Mr. YAMADA TAKIO – the Japanese ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Vietnam together with more than 30 Japanese enterprises visited and worked in Tan Cang International Container Terminal (TC – HICT).

Here, delegates heard a brief introduction of the potentials and advantages of Haiphong sea port. Located at the important position, serving as the main gateway to the sea of the North, over the previous year, the development tempo and scale of Haiphong seaport has been constantly consolidated. Tan Cang International Container Terminal (TC – HICT)  is the pioneer unit in developing the deep water seaport system in Lach Huyen. By now, the seaport is capable of accommodating the vessels of more than 130,000 DWT to transport import-export cargoes of the North region to the Europe and North America without transit as before. Activities of TC – HICT has contributed changing the port exploitation and sea freight in the North, increasing the competitiveness of Vietnam and enterprises, boosting investment attraction, especially foreign direct investment to Haiphong in particular and the country in general. At present, at Lach Huyen area, the berths No.3 and No.4 have been sped up by Haiphong Port JSC., for commencement this year. Berths No 5 and No 6 have just been ratified by the government for investment. The completion of sea port system and logistics services will open up new opportunities for cooperation and investment between enterprises of Japan and Haiphong city./.
